Madison, WI – NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, the political arm of Wisconsin’s pro-choice movement, announced its endorsement of Kathleen Falk for Dane County Executive today.
 
“Kathleen Falk has led the charge to make Dane County a better place for women and families,” said Lisa Subeck, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. “Women in Dane County can count on Falk’s leadership and strong support of public health and human services to ensure access to reproductive health care including birth control, quality pre-natal care, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.”
 
Falk’s opponent, Nancy Mistele, was endorsed by Wisconsin Right to Life during her previous unsuccessful run for state office and called herself “100 percent pro-life,” opposing certain abortion procedures even in cases of rape, incest or threat to a woman’s life (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 10/11/98).
 
Mistele has explicitly stated, “Health care isn’t a right,” (The Capital Times, 10/25/94). When asked about health and human services on the county level, Mistele expressed her desire to, “find out ways to streamline work or shift dollars from this program to that” (Isthmus, 1/29/09).
 
“Nancy Mistele fails miserably on the issue of women’s health care,” said Subeck. “In contrast, Kathleen Falk is a leader and champion for Dane County women. NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin encourages our supporters in Dane County to support Kathleen Falk on April 7.”
