Roys Steps Down
NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin (NPCW) announced today that Kelda Helen Roys has stepped down from her position as Executive Director. After leading the organization for four years, Roys is now focusing her energy on a run for public office. “Kelda has been a tremendous leader for our organization, and for the entire reproductive health movement,” said Sachin Chheda, President of the NPCW Board of Directors. “I’m proud to know her and to have worked with her, and I know she’ll provide leadership on these critical issues for the rest of her career.” During her time as Executive Director, Roys greatly expanded NPCW’s political relationships, communications capacity and grassroots membership. She saw the election of a pro-choice governor and significant pro-choice gains in the State Legislature. Roys was especially instrumental in organizing NPCW’s campaign to expand access to emergency contraception, helping to gain the passage of the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Bill earlier this year. “Kelda has elevated the profile of NARAL Pro Choice Wisconsin and kept the interests of women and their health in mind at every step,” said Carousel Bayrd, Chair of the NPCW Foundation Board of Directors and an elected member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors. “We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.” As the political leader of the reproductive rights movement, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin looks forward to continuing our work to expand access to affordable health care for all Wisconsin women and making further pro-choice gains in the state legislature this fall.
