NARAL announces 2006 state legislative endorsements!
Candidates will protect freedom, privacy, and access to birth control
Madison, WI - NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, the political arm of the pro-choice movement, announced today the release of their candidate endorsements for the Wisconsin State Assembly.
We are pleased to offer our support for these tremendous candidates for the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly, said Kelda Helen Roys, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. These leaders share our values of freedom, privacy, and personal responsibility, and will bring a common-sense, prevention first approach to reproductive health care policy.
In the last legislative session alone, anti-choice lawmakers introduced two dozen attacks on the ability of Wisconsinites to make their own private, personal health care decisions, including allowing pharmacists to withhold birth control, banning emergency contraception on university campuses, and forcing doctors to provide medically unsupportable information to women.
We need to elect state legislators who will protect access to birth control, family planning services, and basic privacy in health care decisions, said Roys. "Rather than working to make abortion more difficult and dangerous, these candidates will work to make it less necessary by preventing unintended pregnancy and improving services for women and families."
