Madison, WI – NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, the state’s only organization dedicated exclusively to political advocacy for reproductive rights, announced its second round of endorsements for the November 2nd general election for Wisconsin State Senate:

§ Sen. Spencer Coggs, 6th District (part of Milwaukee county)
§ Rep. Mark Miller, 16th District (parts of Dane, Columbia, and Sauk Counties)

Rep. Mark Miller is one of the legislature’s leading voices for women and families, authoring the Wisconsin Universal Health Plan and living wage legislation, and co-sponsoring the equal pay bill.

“Rep. Miller is exactly the kind of Senator we need,” said Kelda Helen Roys, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. “He is an invaluable advocate, not just for the right to choose, but on so many issues important to women’s health and wellbeing.”

Rep. Miller’s Republican opponent, Eric Peterson, has been endorsed by an anti-choice group that opposes birth control, seeks to restrict patient access to accurate medical information, and wants to curb basic preventative health care for women.

Sen. Coggs, a longtime public servant and pro-choice leader, is unopposed.

Last week, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin announced its first round of endorsements for State Senate. Following is a complete list of endorsed State Senate candidates:

§ Rep. Lena Taylor , 4th District (parts of the Cities of Milwaukee, Glendale, and Wauwatosa)
§ Sen. Spencer Coggs, 6th District (part of Milwaukee county)
§ Jennifer Morales, 8th District (parts of Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha Counties)
§ Rep. Mark Miller, 16th District (parts of Dane, Columbia, and Sauk Counties)
§ Sen. Robert Wirch, 22nd District (parts of Kenosha and Racine Counties)
§ Sen. Fred Risser, 26th District (parts of Dane County)
§ Brad Pfaff, 32nd District (La Crosse, Vernon, and Crawford Counties, and parts of Monroe and Richland Counties)

NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, the political arm of the pro-choice movement, supports pro-choice candidates statewide to ensure that reproductive health and privacy are protected and expanded during the next legislative session.
