Honoring 31 Years of Reproductive Choice
On Thursday evening, January 22, friends of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin from across the state will gather in Milwaukee with Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager and State Representative Lena Taylor in celebration of thirty one years of reproductive freedom and autonomy for American women.
Friends of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin gather to celebrate the anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision at a time of grave threats to reproductive choice. In Wisconsin, only Governor Doyle’s veto protects women from numerous measures specifically crafted to hinder access to comprehensive reproductive health care. At the same time, the President is allied with U.S. House and Senate leadership against reproductive choice for the first time since the Roe decision, and the U.S. Supreme Court is just one vote away from overturning the landmark decision.
“This anniversary is a call to action. Pro-choice people can’t afford to remain silent any longer. Pro-choice people must stand up and be counted if we are to preserve reproductive choice for our daughters. We need every voice this year,” said Courtney Emery, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin spokesperson.
Attending NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin’s annual Roe v. Wade anniversary celebration is a simple, yet powerful, way for Wisconsinites to declare their pro-choice values. To learn more, visit NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin’s website, www.naralwi.org.
