What Does It Mean to Be Pro-Choice?
A person is pro-choice if she or he: • Believes that all women should have access to what's needed to care for their health and lives. • Believes that reproductive health care decisions should be made by a woman and her doctor, not by politicians. • Supports the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade and opposes any attempts to overturn or abridge it through judicial or legislative action. • Opposes any legislation, referendum, or judicial activity that unnecessarily impedes a woman's access to an abortion. • Supports access to affordable, reliable contraceptives and family planning resources for all women. • Supports comprehensive, age-appropriate sex-education programs for youth. • Supports funding of abortions for low-income women who depend on government health care. • Supports access to services to ensure healthy families. • Opposes government-imposed delays, state-scripted "counseling" mandates, and other restrictions on reproductive services. The majority of Americans are proud to be pro-choice!
