Tabling at Festivals and Fairs
Join the Tabling Team! RSVP for an upcoming training or sign up for a tabling shift (more information below). Tabling is one of the best tried and true recruitment and campaigning methods. It's extremely effective for the following reasons: An active, attractive table can draw people over to see what the issue is all about. A table allows us to get information out through attention grabbing materials and allow us to sign up new CAN members and recruit new volunteers. If tabling efforts are done regularly in well placed areas they will become extremely visible symbols of our grassroots campaign and accessible locations for dialog with the public. Tabling skills are easy to learn and therefore are good tools to develop volunteers and leaders in the campaign.
We table at various events throughout the spring, summer and fall including the Dane County Farmers Market, Pride Fests, Ethnic Fests, Fighting Bob Fest, Community Festivals and Volunteer Fairs. Typically tabling shifts are 2-3 hours and we always have two people per shift. We hold a tabling training once a month typically on Saturdays. The training is not mandatory but can be very helpful.
