Communications Intern
Description: The Communications Intern will assist with media work as well as write a wide variety of publications, including educational brochures, statewide newsletters and press releases. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable research, writing, and technological skills. Responsibilities include:
• Maintain press list • Write or revise press releases and advisories as directed • Aid with media follow-up calls • Manage Letter to the Editor program • Maintain website (training will be provided) • Maintain social networking sites • Submit articles to blogs • Organize press conferences as directed • Write electronic newsletters and alerts Qualifications: • Must be fully pro-choice and committed to ensuring all women have access to the full range of reproductive health care including abortion • Excellent research and writing skills • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel • The ability to work independently, creatively, multi-task and pay attention to detail • Energetic and enthusiastic learner Hours: 12-15 hours per week, primarily during business hours Unpaid, but staff will work with intern to obtain college credit.
