Send a Letter to the Editor: Compassionate Care for Rape Victims
Get the word out about the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Bill (CCRV)! Write a letter to the editor! The Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Bill (SB 129/AB 377) would require all of Wisconsin's emergency rooms to provide rape victims with information about and access to emergency contraception. Currently, only 1/3 of the hospitals in Wisconsin have a policy of dispensing EC to rape victims. Anti-choice extremist Representative Mark Gundrum attached an amendment that would gut the bill, letting hospitals "opt out" of providing emergency contraception. The amendment actually prohibits rape victims from asserting their rights in court when a hospital has withheld critical information about emergency contraception! We must ensure the bill passes without the Gundrum amendment! Rape victims deserve immediate access to safe and effective methods to prevent unintended pregnancy. Speak out! Send a letter to the editor to your local paper asking fellow community members to contact their state representative. Click here for tips on writing and submitting letters to the editor.
